Uğur Yıldırım (born August 5, 1982 in Apeldoorn ) is a Dutch - Turkish football player .

career

Yıldırım joined the professional squad in 2000 from the youth of the Go Ahead Eagles Deventer . There he established himself quickly and became a regular player. In the Eerste Divisie he drew attention when he scored 18 goals in 2002/03 and 19 goals in the following season.

In 2004 Yıldırım was therefore committed by the first division club SC Heerenveen . Here he became a regular player straight away.

Yıldırım, who has both Dutch and Turkish citizenship , had to decide in early 2005 which national team he would like to play in. Marco van Basten and Ersun Yanal each invited him to the country selection. Yıldırım decided for the Dutch selection and had his only international match on February 9, 2005, when he came on in the game against England in the 64th minute for Romeo Castelen . For the 2007/2008 season he moved to Turkey to Gaziantepspor , after which he moved to Sivasspor in spring 2008 .

In a free kick competition in Marbella , Spain , which the organizers dubbed the Free Kick World Cup, Yıldırım was able to win the title - and thus a luxury car. He beat Zinedine Zidane , among others .
