U-19 Lacrosse World Championships
The under-19 Lacrosse World Championships are held every fourth year separately from women and men in order to determine the best team in the participating countries. The men's championships are organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) and the women's championships by the International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations (IFWLA). The first U-19 Men's Lacrosse World Championship was held in 1988 and the first U-19 Women's Lacrosse World Championship was held in 1995. Since the championships began, the US men's team has become world champions every time.
The last men's world championship took place in Coquitlam ( British Columbia ) in 2008 , with the team from the USA again winning. The last women's world championship took place in Peterborough, Ontario , in 2007 . Germany was allowed to take part in the U-19 World Cup with a U-21 team with a special permit from the ILF , since (youth) lacrosse was and is still in development in Germany.
