The station Kaisermühlen - Vienna International Center is an above-ground station of the Vienna underground line U1 in the 22nd district of Vienna , Donaustadt . The station opened on September 3, 1982 and is named after the Kaisermühlen district and the Vienna International Center , the third official seat of the United Nations .
The two side platforms of the station are at an altitude of 6.5 m above the ground level parallel to Wagramer Straße. Escalators and elevators lead to the two reception buildings under the subway structure . Exits lead to the United Nations Visitor Center on the one hand and to Schüttaustraße south of the station on the other. There you have the option of changing to the bus lines 20A in the direction of Arbeiterstrandbadstrasse and Bruckhaufen, 92A in the direction of Aspern Zachgasse and 92B in the direction of Lobau oil port, operated by the Gschwindl transport company . In summer, additional shuttle buses stop at the Gänsehäufel lido .
In the immediate vicinity of the station are the Kaiserwasser and Alte Donau recreational areas , the UNO-City with the Vienna International Center and the Austria Center Vienna as well as the Donau City with the Donaucity church . The Danube Park with the Danube Tower can also be reached on foot via the Donau City slab . Starting from the Kaisermühlen station, the level of the elevated railway line drops in a south-westerly direction and, after about 200 meters, leads below the Reichsbrücke across the Danube.
