The Kalk Kapelle underground station is a station on lines 1 and 9 of the Cologne city railway . The station is located in Kalker center under the Kalker main road.
From this station the paths of the two railway lines branch off towards the east. Line 1 continues on the main road via Merheim , Brück to Bensberg . Line 9, on the other hand, makes a bend and continues via Ostheim to Königsforst . You can change to bus line 159 in the direction of Gremberg and Poll in the south or in the north in the direction of Mülheim . Like the other stations, Bf Deutz / Messe , Deutz Technical University and Kalk Post , the station was opened in 1980 and is located in the Deutz-Kalker Tunnel. The next stop on line 1 in the direction of Bensberg is the Fuldaer Straße underground station , the next stop on line 9 in the direction of Königsforst is Vingst, which is also still in the tunnel. In the other direction towards Neumarkt, the next station on both lines is Kalk Post. There are only two low-floor platforms in the station , as the stop is usually only approached by low-floor vehicles of the type K4000 and K4500. As at the other stations of the Deutz-Kalker Tunnel, the escalators end on a platform 55 centimeters above the platform, from which a staircase then leads to the platform; this was planned as a preliminary construction work for the later conversion to the elevated platform. A conversion of the escalators and dismantling of the platforms has not yet been carried out after the introduction of low-floor vehicles.
