The Bensberg underground station is a terminus of the Cologne light rail . It is served by Line 1 of the Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe (KVB).

architecture
A central platform enables boarding and alighting on two tracks. The above-ground bus station in Bensberg can be reached via stairs , escalators and an elevator . Two parking decks are available for park and ride .
line 1
Line 1 is a west-east line . The 26.5 km long route crosses the Rhine and connects Weiden on the left bank of the Rhine with Bensberg on the right bank of the Rhine. The tunnel for the last 487 meter long section between the stations “Im Hoppenkamp” and “Bensberg” was inaugurated on May 27, 2000. Plans to extend the route to Herkenrath have not yet been implemented. A wall painting at the end of the tracks shows the illusion of a continuation of the route with a tunnel exit at the Kardinal-Schulte-Haus in Bensberg. At the above-ground bus station there are connections to the neighboring cities of Leverkusen , Overath and Rösrath . An express bus takes 35 minutes via the A4 to Cologne Central Station .
