UNESCO Global Geopark

UNESCO Global Geopark is a geological site or landscape of international geoscientific importance according to UNESCO . The award was created in 2015. UNESCO Global Geoparks are thus under the World Heritage sites and biosphere reserves , the third category of sites of the UNESCO Cultural and Natural Heritage .

As of April 2018, 140 Geoparks in 38 countries have been selected and are therefore members of the Global Geoparks Network .
