The USS Michigan (SSBN- / SSGN-727) is a United States Navy submarine and belongs to the Ohio class .
history
The Michigan was built by the Electric Boat of General Dynamics Corporation in Groton , Connecticut , and entered service on September 11, 1982 . The home port is Naval Base Kitsap in Bangor , ( Washington ). She arrived there on March 16, 1983 .
Starting in 2002, the Michigan in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard was converted into a Ship Submersible Guided Missile Nuclear ( Trident II SLBMs were exchanged for Tomahawk cruise missiles ). In June 2007 the boat was reassigned to the fleet. At the end of April 2017, the US government announced that the Michigan was being deployed off the coast of North Korea.
