Ude Nissen

Ude Nissen (* 1921 in Leipzig ; † December 5, 1993 near Munich ) was a German conductor .

He grew up in Leipzig and graduated from the music academy in Leipzig with Heinz Bongartz . In 1949/51 he got his first engagement as a répétiteur and drama music director in Leipzig. Further stations followed as Kapellmeister in Nordhausen , where he conducted Puccini'sThe Girl from the Golden West ”, Weimar and Leipzig again.

In 1958 he became the chief musical director of the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra and one year later he was appointed general music director . He also worked as a lecturer at the Weimar Academy of Music from 1960–65 and since 1980 .

Guest tours have taken him to Poland , Hungary , the former ČSSR , the former Soviet Union , Bulgaria , Romania , the former Yugoslavia , Sweden , Austria , France and Egypt .

In 1989 he was expelled from the GDR after two of his children fled to West Germany via Hungary . He moved near Munich and died on December 5, 1993.
