Udo Böbel (born February 20, 1952 in Burglengenfeld ) is a former German handball player and active handball trainer .

Böbel began his career with the first division club TSV Milbertshofen . He stayed with Munich until 1976. After that he went to Frisch Auf Göppingen for a year and then played again in Milbertshofen for two years. He then moved to local rivals MTSV Schwabing in 1980 , where he ended his active career in 1983. For the German national team Böbel played four games in which he threw two goals.

After his playing days he remained connected to handball as a coach . He works as an A-license trainer full-time or part-time. His coaching stations were, among others, TS Selb (Regional League, 1986), TV Fürth (District League, 1989–1993), HSG Asbach / Modau (Regionalliga, 1993), SG Leutershausen (Bundesliga, 1995–1996), TV Fränkisch-Crumbach (Oberliga, 1998) and the TV Lorsch (regional league, 2002-2004).

For four weeks he was the coach of the women's team at TSG Ober-Eschbach ( 2nd Bundesliga ). After four defeats in a row, his engagement ended on February 15, 2008.

From 2005 to 2009 Böbel coached the women's team of TV Siedelsbrunn (Oberliga Hessen) and from July 1, 2008 to June 2011, the men's team of HC VfL Heppenheim (District Oberliga). At the beginning of the 2012/2013 season, Böbel became the coach of the men's team for the HSG Fürth / Krumbach district top division. Until 2013 he was also the coach of the women's team of SG Wald-Michelbach (District League A). After two years with the Odenwäldern, his contract was not renewed. From November 2014 Böbel coached the Baden league club SG Leutershausen 2. Since August 2018, he coached the women's team at HSG Fürth / Krumbach (regional league until October 2019) and SpVgg Ilvesheim.
