Udo Haschke

Udo Haschke (born June 16, 1944 in Gera ; † March 4, 2009 in Jena ) was a German educator and politician.

Life

Udo Haschke studied at the Philosophical-Theological Studies Erfurt Catholic theology and entered the Erfurt seminary . He later moved to the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena to study education . During this time he was an active member of the Catholic student community "Petrus Canisius". Here he staged theater productions until 2003, in particular works by Friedrich Dürrenmatt .

Haschke worked as a teacher for German, Russian and art education. After the reunification and peaceful revolution in the GDR he was director of the Adolf Reichwein grammar school in Jena.

He was a member of the KDStV Salana Jenensis .

Udo Haschke was married and has five children. He is the brother of Jürgen Haschke , who also belonged to the People's Chamber and the Bundestag.

In 1968, Haschke became a member of the GDR CDU . In the autumn of 1989 he took part in a leading position in the demonstrations in Jena. In the first free elections in the GDR on March 18, 1990, he entered the People's Chamber . With the reunification on October 3, 1990, he was delegated to the Bundestag with another 143 members of the People's Chamber . In the federal election in 1990 he was elected as a candidate for the CDU in the federal constituency of Jena - Rudolstadt - Stadtroda with 41.7% of the first votes . During his time as a member of the Volkskammer or Bundestag, Udo Haschke was particularly committed to saving the Carl Zeiss company . For many years he was district chairman of the CDU Jena and a member of the CDU parliamentary group in the city council of Jena.

On October 8, 1995, Udo Haschke was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class, together with Joachim Gauck , Marianne Birthler and other political leaders .
