Ueli Schnider (born March 29, 1990 ) is a Swiss cross-country skier .

Career

Schnider, who starts for the Gardes Frontiere , has mainly participated in the Alpine Cup since 2008 . He ran his first World Cup race in December 2010 in Davos , which he finished classically in 68th place over 15 km. He won his first World Cup points in January 2013 in Liberec with 23rd place in the sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme , he finished 47th in the sprint. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, he won his first race in the Alpine Cup in the sprint in Hochfilzen . At the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun , he took eighth place in the sprint and fifth place in the relay. In March 2015, he won the last stage of the mini tour at the Alpine Cup in Chamonix and with it the mini tour and thus achieved fifth place in the overall ranking. In the same month he became Swiss champion in sprint, team sprint and 50 km mass start race. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he finished the Nordic Opening in Ruka in 78th place. In January 2016 he became Swiss champion over 15 km classic. In March 2016, he won two stages of the mini tour at the Alpine Cup in Toblach . At the Swiss Championships in 2017 in Val Müstair , he became champion over 50 km classic and together with Erwan Käser in the team sprint. In the 2017/18 season he achieved fourth place in the overall ranking of the Alpine Cup with five top ten placements. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he finished 45th in the 50km mass start race and 39th in the sprint. At the Swiss Championships in 2018 , he was champion with the relay and over 15 km classic.

In the 2018/19 season Schnider achieved five top ten placements, including third place in the 15 km mass start race in Oberwiesenthal and second place in the 20 km mass start race in Nové Město , sixth place in the overall ranking of the Alpine Cup. At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , he ran on 23rd place over 15 km classic, on 11th place with Jovian Hediger in the team sprint and on eighth place with the relay. At the 2019 Swiss Championships in Engelberg , he won gold in the 50 km mass start race and together with Erwan Käser in the team sprint.
