The Ukrainian is a breed of horses from the Ukraine ( Ukrainian: Український верховий кінь ).

Exterior

The Ukrainian reaches a maximum height of 1.63 cm. His body is noble and well-proportioned. The sometimes large head has a straight profile. The Ukrainian's ears are medium-sized, and his eyes and nostrils are large. The Ukrainians mostly have foxes, but also other coat colors such as brown or black horses.

Ukrainians are good-natured and willing animals. As they are both strong and enduring and have extensive movements, they are first-class competition horses that are used in many disciplines from show jumping and dressage to eventing and racing . They are also used as riding and carriage horses.

Breeding history

Breeding of the Ukrainian began after the Second World War. They crossed Nonius , Furioso North Star , Gidran and local mares with thoroughbred , Trakehner and Hanoverian stallions .
