Ulf Rådbjer (born May 18, 1960 ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player and current referee , who during his active time played for AIK Ishockey in the Elitserien , and later was one of the most famous and successful referees in his home country.

Player career

National

The winger already played for AIK ishockey in his youth , and in 1976 he won the prestigious national U17 TV swaddling tournament with the Stockholm County national team . For the senior team of AIK Ishockey Rådbjer was used for the first time in the 1977/78 season in the first-class Elitserien and won the league silver medal in the first year with the team. Another runner-up in 1981 followed before the attacker was able to win the Swedish championship with the AIK for the first time in 1982 .

After the 1982/83 season Ulf Rådbjer moved to the second division Hammarby IF , with whom he was able to celebrate promotion to the Elitserien in 1985. After the direct relegation, the Swede stayed in Hammarby for another year and then joined the league rivals VIK Västerås HK . In the 1990/91 season, the striker went again for IFK Tumba in Division I.

International

With the Swedish U18 national team , Ulf Rådbjer won the gold medal at the European Championships in 1977, and the silver medal with the U20 team the following year.

Referee career

After the end of his active career Rådbjer completed training as a referee and was mainly used in the Elitserien in the following years . He also directed some games at the Olympic Games and World Championships . Between 1997 and 2003 the referee was awarded the SICO: s guldpipa as the best referee of the season seven times in a row , which is still the record today. For the 2005/06 season Rådbjer announced his retirement, but returned in the 2006/07 season back as a referee in the Elitserien. In the 2007/08 season he was sidelined again due to an injury.

In addition to his work as a referee, Ulf Rådbjer also works as a police officer.
