Ulrich Berger (born October 24, 1921 in Dortmund ; † January 21, 2003 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and trade union official ( DBB ).

Life

Berger, who was a Roman Catholic , joined the German armed forces after graduating from high school and remained a soldier until the end of the war , most recently as a lieutenant in the parachute force .

In 1945 he began an apprenticeship as an administrative officer in Herne . After passing the inspector's examination, he studied at the Administration and Business Academy in Bochum and then became City Director in Herne. Until then he had been a member of the works council of the Herne city administration since 1946.

In 1948 Berger was one of the co-founders of the municipal civil servants ' union komba , of which he was deputy state chairman in North Rhine-Westphalia from 1960 to 1987. From 1974 to 1985 he was chairman of komba and from 1963 to 1987 deputy chairman of the German Association of Civil Servants .

Berger joined the CDU in 1945 after having been a member of the NSDAP since 1939 ( membership number 7,197,280). From 1953 to 1969 he was CDU district chairman in Herne , from 1965 to 1974 district chairman of the CDU industrial area. In 1966 he was a member of the CDU state executive committee of Westphalia-Lippe and was chairman of the CDU federal public service committee.

He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1961 and from December 22, 1964, when he replaced the Armed Forces Commissioner Matthias Hoogen , until 1980 . From 1969 to 1980 he was Deputy Chairman of the Interior Committee of the Bundestag . Of 3 April to 12 July 1958, he served as substitutes for the late Franz Luster-Haggeney also member of parliament in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Berger was captain of the Bundeswehr reserve .

Honors

Berger was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1979 . In 1985 he was made honorary chairman of the Komba union, the CDU Herne and in 1987 an honorary member of the German Association of Civil Servants .
