Ulrich Cartarius

Ulrich Cartarius (born May 15, 1940 in Koblenz ; † July 7, 2008 ) was a German historian and archivist .

Life

Cartarius studied history and comparative literature in Frankfurt am Main, Würzburg and Darmstadt. After a scholarship at the German Historical Institute in Paris , he received a dissertation from Karl Otmar von Aretin at Faculty 2 (Social and Historical Sciences) of the TH Darmstadt in 1978 with the dissertation Radical Left Agitation and Propaganda in the First World War and its influence on the attitude of the German workers to Dr. . phil. PhD.

From 1980 to 1982 he was an archive trainee at the main state archive in Wiesbaden and attended the Marburg archive school . He then worked for the Foreign Office and worked for the Historical Commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .

In 1984 Cartarius became a speaker and in 1986 deputy head of the Archives of Social Democracy (AdsD) in Bonn. During this time he was u. a. Expert in the Interior Committee of the German Bundestag (1985). From 2007 Cartarius worked at the University Archives in Frankfurt am Main , where he was, among other things, dealing with the listing of the estate of the Nobel Prize winner in physics, Max von Laue .
