Ulrich Kattmann

Ulrich Kattmann (born April 9, 1941 in Braunschweig ) is a German biologist who is also active in the fields of anthropology and didactic teaching and learning research. He is considered to be the creator of the term " didactic reconstruction ".

Childhood, education and work

Kattmann was born the son of a civil engineer. He attended elementary school until 1951, then he attended high school until 1960 , first in Braunschweig and then in Hanover . In Göttingen and Tübingen he studied biology, chemistry and Protestant theology until 1967 .

In 1968 he became a teacher at a grammar school in Hanover and from 1970 to 1982 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Science Education (today Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education ). He received his doctorate in 1977 from the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel ; He wrote his dissertation on the subject of "Human reference point: the foundations of a human-centered structuring of biology teaching". In 1982 he was appointed to the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg as Professor of Biology Didactics with a focus on human biology , where he has held numerous offices since then. From 1988 to 1990 he was vice-president, twice dean of the then biology department, from 1990 to 1992 director of the Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Sea (ICBM), for a long time chairman of the joint commission for teacher training (GKL) and from 2000 to 2004 director of the didactic department Center. He was also a member of the Academic Senate of the University of Oldenburg. Since 2001 he has been visiting professor at the University of Vienna. In 2004 Ulrich Kattmann retired.

Kattmann has been married since 1967. He is the father of two sons.
