Ulrich Klieber

Ulrich Klieber (born October 13, 1953 in Göppingen ) is a German painter , draftsman , graphic artist , ceramist , art teacher , university professor and author . From 2003 to 2010 he was rector of the Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy in Halle .

Life

After graduating from Hohenstaufen-Gymnasium Göppingen , Ulrich Klieber studied painting and art education at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart from 1973 to 1978 under Professors Hugo Peters , Horst Bachmayer and KRH Sonderborg, and from 1974 to 1977 art history at the University of Stuttgart . After the state examination in Stuttgart from 1978 to 1979 he studied painting at the Royal College of Art in London with John Golding and Paul Huxley.

Working as a freelance artist since 1985, Klieber received a teaching position at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art in Halle in 1995 and was appointed to a professorship for the basics of art in the art department the following year. From 2001 he was vice-rector of the university for two years, after which he took over the post of rector until 2010. Guest professorships took Klieber to the University of Industrial Design in Hanoi / Vietnam in 2000 and 2010, and to the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in Tianjin / China in 2004, 2012 and 2014. Since 2015 he has been Adjunct Professor at Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City / Vietnam.

In addition to painting and graphics, Klieber's artistic work also includes ceramic work. He has carried out various architecture-related projects in Germany, France and Japan. The objectives and results of his pedagogical conception have been reflected in several of his own publications.

Ulrich Klieber lives and works in Halle (Saale) , Adelberg and Murnau .
