Ulrich Lechte (born August 26, 1977 in Sinsheim ) is a German politician of the ( FDP ) and business economist. He has been a member of the 19th German Bundestag since October 2017 .

Life and work

Ulrich Lechte was born in Sinsheim, grew up in Neckarbischofsheim and from 1988 attended the Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck , Episcopal Gymnasium with boarding school in Goch , where he graduated from high school in 1996. He then took up a degree in political science at the University of Regensburg . Lechte is a business economist (VWA) . He worked in sales for four years until he became sales manager and editor of the Regensburger Stadtzeitung in 2001 . From 2006 to 2013 he headed the constituency office of member of the Bundestag Horst Meierhofer . When the FDP left the Bundestag in 2013, Ulrich Lechte moved to a company in the field of renewable energies , where he worked until 2015, as assistant to the management and head of controlling . He has been working as a consultant for a Düsseldorf law firm since 2016. There was criticism that Lechte had apparently not registered this activity with the President of the Bundestag and published it on the Bundestag homepage. He made up for this later.

He is a member of various associations and support groups in Regensburg, including the SSV Jahn Regensburg and the Skatclub Regensburg. From 2000 to 2001 he was deputy chairman of the student convention at the University of Regensburg. He is a plenary member of the Sudeten German Council , a member of the German Army Support Group and the German Africa Foundation .

Ulrich Lechte joined the Young Liberals (JuLis), the Liberal University Group (LHG) and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) in 1998 . In 2000 he was elected chairman of the Young Liberals Bavaria, which he chaired until 2004. He was elected deputy district chairman of the FDP Regensburg-Stadt in 2002 and remained in this position until 2013, when he was elected chairman of the Regensburg-Stadt district association. In 2016 Ulrich Lechte became an honorary member of JuLis Regensburg 2016. Since 2005 he has been the district secretary for the FDP in the Upper Palatinate . In 2018 Ulrich Lechte became district chairman of the FDP Upper Palatinate. Ulrich Lechte was treasurer of the FDP Bavaria from 2015 to 2019 . At the state party conference of the FDP Bavaria in November 2019, he was elected deputy state chairman.

For the federal election on September 24, 2017 , Ulrich Lechte entered the 19th German Bundestag via the state list of the FDP Bavaria .

He is a full member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Chairman of the “United Nations, International Organizations and Globalization” subcommittee in the German Bundestag. Ulrich Lechte has also been secretary in the German Bundestag and a member of the delegation of the Interparliamentary Union (IPU) of the German Bundestag since 2019 . He is also a deputy member of the sub-committee for civil crisis prevention, conflict management and networked action. At the IPU assembly in Doha in April 2019, he was elected to the Board of Young MPs by the geopolitical group of 12+. Ulrich Lechte is also deputy chairman of the German-Turkish and German-Egyptian parliamentary groups and member of the parliamentary group Cono-Sur of the German Bundestag.

Political positions

Ulrich Lechte is committed to achieving the 30% target of the Funding Compact to make financial resources for humanitarian aid more flexible in order to achieve the goals set by the humanitarian summit in Istanbul in 2016. With several budget amendments from 2018 and 2019, Ulrich Lechte called for funds to be shifted from non-flexible to flexible funds. There was no majority in the Bundestag for the motions.

Ulrich Lechte is committed to maintaining the multilateral order and, in addition to making financial resources more flexible for aid organizations, also calls for Germany to be more involved in United Nations peace missions through a larger number of civil and police forces.

As a signatory of the Easter Appeal, Ulrich Lechte is committed to sea ​​rescue in the Mediterranean. In his speech on March 21, 2019, he called for the resumption of EUNAVFOR MED Operation SOPHIA in the Mediterranean.
