Ulrich Mell

Ulrich Mell (born March 30, 1956 in Neumünster , Holstein ) is a German Protestant theologian . Since 2001, Mell has been a full professor of Protestant theology and its didactics at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hohenheim ( Stuttgart ).

biography

After studying pedagogy in Hanover and Kiel and Protestant theology in Kiel and Tübingen , Mell was vicar of the North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lübeck . From 1983 to 1998 Mell was a research assistant, then assistant and senior assistant at the Institute for New Testament Studies and Jewish Studies at the Theological Faculty of Christian Albrechts University in Kiel with Jürgen Becker (theologian) . There he received his doctorate in 1988 with a thesis on New Creation under Paul and completed his habilitation in the New Testament1993 with a study of the Jerusalem scene in the Gospel of Mark . From 1998 to 2001 he represented the Chair of Biblical Studies (Old Testament / New Testament) at the University of Education and at the re-established University in Erfurt .

Research priorities

Mell's research interests are the parables of the historical Jesus , the Corpus Paulinum and the Gospel of Mark as well as the history and theological history of early Christianity.
