Ulrich Stephan (chess player)

Ulrich Stephan (born May 7, 1970 ) is a German chess player . His greatest success was his victory at the Correspondence Chess World Cup 2010.

World title

Between 1987 and 2005 he took part in various well-known tournaments in Germany and also played in the German Chess League . Then he concentrated on correspondence chess and won the 24th correspondence chess World Cup in 2010 with a 0.5 point lead over his German competitor Thomas Winckelmann . In the last round, a draw against the Czech Pavel Svacek was enough to win the title. In the final of the correspondence chess world championships, Stephan met 16 other correspondence chess experts. Overall he achieved 11.5 out of a possible 16 points.

Ulrich Stephan holds the official title of correspondence chess grandmaster . He is also chairman of the Altlußheim chess and skat club.
