Ulrich Walluhn (born February 2, 1959 in Erfurt ) is a German author whose writings deal with topics relating to the railway sector. In political terms, Walluhn became known for his collaboration with the NPD .

Life

According to his own account, Walluhn studied after attending the extended secondary school and doing military service with the National People's Army from 1980 at the Technical University of Ilmenau and the University of Transport in Dresden , but without attaining an academic degree. He then worked at the Deutsche Reichsbahn, initially as an unskilled unskilled laborer and later as an IT technician.

Walluhn has been a writer since the 1990s. He claims that his writings on the history of the railways are based primarily on archival material, such as documents from the Sovetskaya Vojennaja Administrazija Transporta (SWAT), the Soviet military transport administration. His last book so far, which is devoted to locomotives and railcars in the area of the Soviet occupation zone in Germany , was published in 2004. It was positively discussed by the specialist press and described by the magazine Drehscheibe as a “valuable asset”. A tracing plan of the Polish State Railways (PKP) comes from Walluhn's own archive , which is said to date from 1928 and presented the Walluhn to the professional world in the 1980s, who initially expected important findings from it. However, after Eastern European archives became accessible after 1990, doubts arose about the plan. According to the current state of knowledge, this is not considered to be authentic. The Austrian engineer and author Reimar Holzinger describes it as a "totally dubious work" and also questions the authenticity of other documents from Walluhn's archive.

Walluhn lives in the Erfurt settlement of Wiesenhügel .

Political commitment

Walluhn was a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) from 1985 to 1989 . His activity as chairman of an Erfurt local political initiative that worked closely with the right-wing extremist National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD) in 2007 and 2008 before the upcoming Thuringian local elections caused a stir .
