Ulrich "Uli" Weiler (born December 28, 1943 in Duisburg ) is a former German handball player and handball trainer .

Career

Ulrich Weiler played handball at RSV Mülheim , for which he was used as a runner in the Bundesliga . After his active career, he took over as coach from LTV Wuppertal in 1978, which was promoted to the regional league under his leadership . He trained the LTV Wuppertal until 1982.

Weiler was in charge of the Bundeswehr selection team that won the military world championship in Paris in 1982 . From 1983 to 1988 he coached the Qatari national team . He then coached the German women's national team for two years , which under his leadership took fourth place at the 1990 World Cup . He also coached the men's team from TuRU Düsseldorf , which rose to the Bundesliga in 1991 under his leadership .

In the summer of 1992, Weiler took over as coach of the women's team from TuS Walle Bremen , who competed in the Bundesliga . Between 1994 and 1998 he worked at the DHB as a youth coordinator. Weiler also coached the Egyptian national team . Shortly after Egypt finished sixth at the 1995 World Cup , he ended his coaching career as Egyptian national coach.

Weiler trained the regional league team TV Oppum until October 2000 . From 2000 he worked in the youth division of the Neuss AGM . Later he coached the women's team from TuS Treudeutsch 07 Lank until the end of the 2006/07 season. In the following season he was responsible for the women's upper division TV Aldekerk . He then coached the men's team at TV Issum for two years. From April 2010 until shortly before the start of the 2011/12 season, he was in charge of VfL Rheinhausen. Weiler then worked as a trainer for the women's division SSV Gartenstadt.
