The Umpumppikett (formerly: liquid gas piquet ) is a fire service organization founded by the building insurance of the Canton of Zurich (GVZ), which can be deployed throughout Switzerland to transfer larger quantities of liquids or liquefied gases. At the initiative of the Kolb company fire brigade in Hedingen and the Affoltern base fire brigade , it was founded by the GVZ in 2001 and currently consists of 40 members of the fire brigade . Despite the generally very good training and -rüstungsstands the Swiss fire brigades the establishment of was Piquet's necessary because it lacked especially for accidents involving liquefied gases of starting materials. So far, the BASF plant fire brigade in Ludwigshafen am Rhein has mostly been deployed for such events .

The Umpumppikett consists of the professional fire brigade Protection & Rescue South, the professional fire brigade Protection & Rescue North , the base fire department Affoltern am Albis and the base fire department Meilen . Each base moves with a universal fire truck or chemical vehicle and a crew transport vehicle from.

There is also a fire and rescue train from the Swiss Federal Railways and on-call personnel at Midor AG and Kolb AG, as well as other specialists from outside the canton from Schärer & Schläpfer AG in Rothrist . The call has been made since March 2002 via the telephone number 118 and then via the operations control center of the Canton of Zurich.

The standby team practices pumping liquids such as ammonia , butane , butane-1 , ethylene oxide , isobutene , propane and propylene five times a year under real conditions . The special material was purchased and financed by the cantons of the fire service inspectors in Eastern Switzerland (OSFIK) and the SBB. The on-call service is maintained by the building insurance of the Canton of Zurich, Cantonal Fire Brigade Department.

The pump-around system had its first major use in February 2005, when 14,000 liters of high-percentage sulfuric acid leaked from a plant in Uetikon .
