Umran Ertok

Umran Ertok (born July 23, 1940 in Istanbul - † August 2, 2014 ) was a Turkish actor , playgroup leader and columnist .

Life

Ertok played in several theaters in Turkey in the 1960s, including Istanbul. In 1971 he came to Germany, where he initially lived in Darmstadt . From 1971 to 1983 he worked on several theater projects in Darmstadt and Frankfurt am Main , most recently with the Umran Ertok Frankfurt Oyunculari theater ensemble . In 1988 he had to temporarily interrupt his acting career because of a brain hemorrhage.

In 2008 Ertok appeared at the 1st MigrantenTheaterFestival in the Ruhr area , which was carried out under the motto To New Shores at various venues, in a guest performance by the Burghofbühne Dinslaken in the play 40 Yil-Dile Kolay / 40 Years of Light by Yüksel Pazarkaya . In 2008 he also made a guest appearance in this role at the German-Turkish Cultural Autumn in Offenbach am Main . The play had its premiere in November 2007 at the Landestheater Dinslaken, which was the first German State Theater to ever stage a Turkish play with Turkish actors in Turkish.

Ertok also had a few roles on German television in the 1980s. Ertok took on a leading role in the television film Recipient Unknown by Sohrab Shahid Saless (1982/83). In 1986 he played in the television series Detective Agency Roth . In an episode of ZDF - series Hessian stories he had in 1989 also play a role as a Turkish taxi driver.

For his participation in the play Nair'in Karısı in the Little Comedy in Ankara , he received an actor's award for the best supporting role in Turkey.

Ertok also wrote a column for the foreign edition of the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet , in which he commented on current socio-political issues.

Ertok lived in Frankfurt am Main.
