Umzimvubu ( English Umzimvubu Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the Alfred Nzo district of the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa . The local government is based in Mount Frere . The mayor of the municipality is Sobane Khulile Mnukwa.

The municipality is named after the Mzimvubu River , which flows through the municipality.
