action

The young bounty hunter Garringo (in the Italian and English-language version: "Arizona") returns to his home region after a long absence, where an unscrupulous landowner named Styles pulls the strings. To his horror, Garringo learns of his father's death as a result of the brutal machinations of Styles, who wanted to take control of all the land. After first confrontations with some of the men’s followers, he becomes friends with the good-drinking schnapps distiller "Duffy", whose attractive niece Catherine, however, thinks little of the rough charm of the blonde gunslinger. After a first direct encounter between Garringo and Styles ends with a "points win" for the younger one, the nasty country baron does everything to get rid of him and "Duffy"; However, his men fail in an attack on the remote property of the rustic drinker.

Nevertheless, the situation for the little ranchers is becoming more and more threatening, especially since Styles has now secured the support of the contract killer Dean Towers, who is also an old friend of Garringos. "Duffy" gathers the enslaved and finally manages to get Garringo to lead the resistance against Styles. With united forces, the group, determined to do everything, rides into the commune and tears off all company signs with the same owner name from the walls. Meanwhile, despite a certain sympathy for Garringo, Towers challenges him to a duel, which the latter wins. Back at "Duffy's" farm, Nora, Styles' former partner, now joins the resistance because the latter shows a greater interest in Catherine. With new recruits (many former comrades-in-arms had already bitten into the grass) Styles comes to a final argument, accidentally kills Nora, while Garringo ultimately blows the monster out of life. Then the bounty hunter rides away.

criticism

“This bad western lacks consistency because it often misuses familiar themes and constellations. The predictable scenes of violence are almost taken for granted, "wrote" Segnalazione Cinematografiche ".

The “small and cheap product that was made for smaller uses, which might have attracted attention a few years ago when the hippie wave started”, did not find favor with critic “Vice” either.

Remarks

The Italian title of the film is Dio in cielo ... Arizona in terra . It was the last western with the German-born leading actor Peter Lee Lawrence .

The film was shot on the outskirts of Rome.
