Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection includes the action adventure Uncharted: Drake's Destiny , Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, which has been reworked exclusively for the PlayStation 4 by the US developer Bluepoint Games . It is a so-called remaster version of the video games, in which, among other things, the graphics have been adapted to the current possibilities of the technology. The game collection was released on October 7, 2015 in Europe and on October 9, 2015 in the USA. The publisher is Sony Computer Entertainment .

The collection sold more than half a million times within the first week and a million times after only 5 weeks. To date (as of December 2015) the collection has sold 2.4 million times worldwide.

Gameplay

The protagonist Nathan Drake is controlled from the third-person perspective . The play figure jumps over the roofs of houses in the style of parkour or climbs along rock faces. The fight against enemy figures is possible with different handguns and long weapons or with close combat techniques, depending on the choice of the player. In a firefight, the playing figure has the option of firing shots from cover. The player aims at the opponent by means of a crosshair on the screen. In some areas of the game, the player must also solve puzzles in order to advance the story. There are also hidden treasures throughout the game, which can often be found in difficult-to-reach places and which the player can collect. These found treasures are rewarded in the game with money that can be used to unlock additional content such as concept drawings or useful game objects.

The recurring figures of all three series parts include:

Nathan Drake is a treasure hunter and a descendant of the famous British explorer Sir Francis Drake .
Victor 'Sully' Sullivan is a treasure hunter and a good friend and mentor of Nathan Drake .
Elena Fisher is a journalist and runs her own television show on archeology. She is now married to Nathan Drake .

The first three games in the Uncharted series were released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 . In order to make these accessible to owners of the PlayStation 4 , the development studio Bluepoint Games was commissioned to develop a so-called remaster of the games. In close cooperation with the original developer Naughty Dog , the graphics were adapted to the current state of the art in many points. This is expressed, for example, in an increased resolution, new textures and character models, as well as the use of graphic filters.

However, the collection only contains the single player campaigns for the games. The multiplayer mode originally contained in the second and third part is missing.

There are also changes to the game mechanics implemented. For example, the target system for exchanges of fire has been standardized for all three games. With the brutal and the explorer mode, there are two new selectable levels of difficulty. In brutal mode, the character regenerates lost life energy very slowly and screen death becomes more likely. In contrast, in explorer mode, the character regenerates very quickly.

Shortly before its release, the remaster received mostly positive reviews from the specialist press Metacritic: 87 out of 100.
