The Unger Peak is a prominent and mostly icy mountain in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . In the Heritage Range of the Ellsworth Mountains, it rises 3 km north-northwest of Zavis Peak from the plateau at the southern end of the Founders Escarpment .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own surveys and with the help of aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1961 and 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1966 after Lieutenant Maurice Henry Unger (* 1940), navigator on flights to the creation of aerial photographs of Marie-Byrd-Land and Ellsworthland during Operation Deep Freeze in 1965 and 1966.
