The Unión is a sailing training ship of the Peruvian Navy .
General
The ship was in 2010 in the state shipyard SIMA in Callao commissioned and expired on 22 December 2014 from the stack . On January 27, 2016, the Unión was put into service in a solemn ceremony in the presence of President Ollanta Humala . It entered the port of Hamburg in 2017 and was open to visitors.
The ship is named after the sailing frigate Unión , which forced the Chilean steamship Rimac to drop the flag during the Saltpeter War . The Auxiliarsegler has a steel hull and a Bark rigged. The sail area is 4324 m². The ship's crew consists of 25 officers, 86 men and 134 cadets. The figurehead represents the Inca Túpac Yupanqui , who reaches for the sun. It is currently the largest training ship in Latin America. The current commanding officer is Franz Richard Bittrich Ramírez.
Furnishing
The ship has medical equipment: This includes a small operating theater with emergency equipment and a dental treatment unit. The crew includes a doctor and a dentist.
