The University Park Airport is a regional airport in Center County , Pennsylvania , USA . It is located approximately four miles north of State College . The airport is owned by Pennsylvania State University , but the terminal and parking areas are owned and operated by the Center County Airport Authority. University Park Airport serves aviation hubs in the Northeast and Midwest of the United States.

history

In the 1950s, a small airfield was built by private pilots on Pennsylvania State University property, north of State College. The Center County Airport Authority was later established to operate the airport. A check-in hall was built in 1985. In 1993 a new terminal was built. The original terminal building is now used for cargo handling. In 1997 the runway was extended to a length of 2042 m. In August 2011 a new control tower was built.
