The University of South Alabama (USA) is a state university in Mobile in the US state of Alabama . It has one of only two state-funded medical schools in Alabama. There are currently around 16,000 students enrolled.
The University of South Alabama was founded in 1963 as a replacement for the courses offered by the branch office of the University of Alabama .

The US sports teams are the jaguars . The university is a member of the Sun Belt Conference .
