Unseen Terror was an English grindcore band. Although she has only released one studio album, her songs are among the most frequently covered by other bands in the genre .
Band history
Unseen Terror was founded in Broseley , Shropshire in early 1986 by Shane Embury (drums) and Mitch Dickinson (guitar, vocals) . Influenced by bands like Siege , Heresy and Genocide (the later Repulsion ), they turned their backs on the death metal band Warhammer to join the Grindcore movement. A little later, the duo hired bassist Peter Giles. With this line-up, Unseen Terror recorded two songs for the sampler Diminished Responsibility . In September 1987 the studio recordings for the debut album were due, which Giles, who lives in Essex , could not take part due to the distance. Embury and Dickinson therefore recorded the album alone. It was released a little later under the title Human Error by Earache Records and sold around 8,000 copies. A few gigs followed, with Mick Harris of Napalm Death taking over the vocals and Wayne Ashton of Warhammer taking over the bass. In the spring of 1988, Unseen Terror made a guest appearance on the BBC at the Peel Sessions . The recording was broadcast a total of three times and one song made it onto the sampler 21 Years of Alternative Radio 1 , which gave an overview of all peel sessions between 1967 and 1988. Despite this promotion , Embury and Dickinson were unable to put together a stable line-up or a live band. With bassist Carl Stokes from Cancer , the band recorded Divisions for a label sampler for Earache Records before they split up in early 1989. Mitch Dickinson was guitarist for Heresy, Shane Embury bassist for Napalm Death.
