Lower cabinet
The Untere Schranne is a region in the Kufstein district in Tyrol . It extends over the municipalities of Ebbs , Erl , Niederndorf , Niederndorferberg , Rettenschöss and Walchsee and is part of the Kufsteinerland tourist association .
Surname
The term Schranne is an old word for place or jurisdiction. The Untere Schranne was one of the three Schrannen of the Kufstein court. The district court is divided into quarters that exactly coincide with the later municipalities. The Schranne met in Ebbs, which is why the area is also called "Ebbser Schranne".

Bordering Bavaria, the Untere Schranne lies in the transition area between the Alps and the flat Alpine foothills and is located on the Zahmer Kaiser . The area is divided into three parts: the west in the catchment area of the Inn , the Walchseesenke and the landscape basin near Kössen in the Leukental with the Großache .

history
Traces of early settlement can be seen in the Tischofer Cave near Ebbs. In Roman times, the Untere Schranne was an important part of the trunk road network in Central Europe. Tourism was first built up by summer visitors from Munich , who let the region grow into a center for summer tourism.
