The Untere Pfistertal north of Vilshofen is a nature reserve near Vilshofen in the Upper Palatinate district of Amberg-Sulzbach in Bavaria .
The nature reserve is located 800 meters northwest of Vilshofen in a side valley of the Vils . It is in the nature park Hirschwald and is part of the conservation area, Köferinger valley Köferinger Heide, Hirschwald Vilstal south of Amberg and the Fauna Flora Habitat -region nature reserve Lower Pfistertal north Vilshofen .
The 14 hectare area is owned by the State Association for Bird Protection in Bavaria eV Despite its small size, it encompasses a large number of different habitats found in the Middle Franconian Alb natural area . The wetland structures in the central area are of particular importance for arid karst . Here you can find an interlinking of the mixed deciduous forests and wild grasslands , valuable plant communities such as z. B. thermophilic and mesophilic fringing societies, limestone semi- arid grasslands, mixed oak and hornbeam forests, calcareous debris corridors, crevice societies, reeds , floating leaf and duckweed societies . It provides a habitat for rare and endangered animal species such as insects , amphibians and birds.
The nature reserve was placed under protection on August 8, 1989.
