The Catholic parish of Sankt Kastulus in Unterschönbach belongs to the deanery Aichach-Friedberg in the diocese of Augsburg. Oberschönbach and Mittelham also belong to the parish. Mangelsdorf belongs to the Catholic parish Heilig Kreuz in Weilach .

Until April 1, 1972, Oberschönbach and its districts belonged as an independent municipality to the Upper Bavarian district of Aichach and was then incorporated into the Kühbach market as part of the regional reform in Bavaria , which was added to the newly founded Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg on July 1, 1972.
