The route begins on official maps at Stuttgart-Untertürkheim train station and runs in a north-easterly direction across Leonhard-Schmidt-Platz , Widdersteinstrasse and Trettachstrasse to the Evangelical City Church of St. Germanus , in which the work of Josephswand by the sculptor HAP Grieshaber can be seen. From there the path climbs over the Rotenberger Steige in an easterly direction past the Mönchberg up to the Rotenberg and there to the burial chapel of the Württemberg King Wilhelm I for his second wife Katharina Pawlowna . At around 400 meters above sea level, there is a view of Untertürkheim, Obertürkheim , Hedelfingen , Wangen and Bad Cannstatt . Depending on the weather, the Swabian Alb , the Black Forest and the Hohenasperg fortress can be seen. The path then passes the village church in Rotenberg in an easterly direction . The baroque sacred building with its eye-catching onion dome , built between 1754 and 1756, is considered a “rarely preserved example of a Swabian village church with a square floor plan”. At the end of the village, the hiking trail branches off in a northerly direction, crosses the border with the Rems-Murr district and reaches its highest point at 459 meters just below the Kappelberg . From there it goes in a westerly direction along the federal highway 14 , north past the residential area Luginsland back to Untertürkheim. With a view of the main Daimler plant, the path crosses the Wallmersiedlung , passes Karl-Benz-Platz and finally reaches the train station again.
