geography

course

The Urach rises a little south of Vöhrenbach - Kaltenherberg in the Häuslewald on the Widiwander Höhe . After only a few kilometers you will reach the village of the same name Urach von Vöhrenbach. Shortly before Hammereisenbach-Bregenbach , the 11.0 km long Urach flows together with the 9.1 km long Eisenbach coming from the right to form the Hammerbach , which flows into the Danube source river Breg after another 1.5 km .

Since the Eisenbach is the somewhat shorter, but richer catchment area of the upper reaches of the Hammerbach, it is considered hydrologically as the main branch of the river system and shares the official river code number with the common lower course of Hammerbach. This is why the Hammerbach is sometimes counted as part of the Eisenbach - or because of its greater length as the Urach.

Tributaries

  • Eschengrundbach (left, 2.3 km)
  • Streichenbach (left, 1.4 km and 1.6 km²)
