Urkost

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Urkost , Urmedmedizin or Urmethodik is the controversial nutrition , healing and living concept of the Federal Health Association (BfG). The association was founded by the non-fiction author Franz Konz (1926–2013).

concept

The Urmedizin is based on the central statement that it is in all diseases IN QUESTION about the consequences of a wrong, not species-appropriate diet. This assumption is reverse drawn, that almost all diseases by a return to Urkost, a particularly strict form of raw , untreatable were. The founder, Franz Konz, once advised to refrain from conventional medicine and to treat yourself with the traditional diet.

The Urkost differs from other raw vegetables in that not only does it not eat prepared food, but also the consumption of edible wild herbs such as chickweed , dandelion , plantain and melde are explicitly required. Konz rejects the washing of vegetables and herbs because this rinses off microorganisms that are essential for the supply of vital substances such as B vitamins . Furthermore, he claims that it is part of the original diet to eat earth occasionally , so u. a. also inorganic matter, which can only be converted into organic substances through photosynthesis by plants. According to Konz, it is completely sufficient to consume juicy fruits to cover the fluid requirement.

From the point of view of Franz Konz, his traditional diet is essentially vegetarian . However, he recommends eating small organisms on fruits and green plants. In his opinion , a worm in an apple or a cherry , an ant on a leaf has not harmed anyone and supplements the otherwise vegetarian diet with vitamin B12 and tiny amounts of animal protein . However, this is not in the foreground of the original diet.

Konz argues against meat consumption both for reasons of animal welfare and due to the phylogenetic development of humans . Unlike predators, humans have no claws or fangs ; because of his physiognomy he was not intended to eat animals because he could not skin them. Thus, for thousands of years, people have been eating differently than one would expect from a mere consideration of their physical equipment.

criticism

However, what speaks against the concept developed by Konz is that tool use , hunting and meat consumption are already documented for both his ancestors and for anatomically modern humans ( Homo sapiens ) themselves. Scientifically today it is assumed that humans were only able to develop the brain in its current size by consuming meat. The human digestive system is also designed for more energy-efficient omnivorous nutrition.

A study by the University of Giessen found that eating exclusively raw food could lead to increased deficiency symptoms , including anemia , due to the observed protein deficiency . The German Nutrition Society (DGE) therefore advises against an exclusively raw food diet, the American Dietetic Association also warns of deficiency symptoms.

Death

2004 was a 16-month-old boy , who was nourished by the teachings of Konz to death after his parents because of the hypotheses refused of Konz, a pneumonia doctor to seek treatment. The child weighed only 4 kg, although at least 10 kg is common at this age .
