Urman ( Ukrainian Урмань ; Russian Урмань , Polish Urmań ) is a village in the west of the Ukrainian Ternopil Oblast with about 650 inhabitants (2001).
The village, first mentioned in writing in 1385 (another source mentions the year 1448), is the administrative center of the 29.706 km² district council of the same name in the north of Bereschany Rajon , which also includes the villages of Krasnopuschtscha ( Краснопуща , ⊙ ) with about 200 inhabitants and Plichiv ( Пліхів , ⊙ ) with about 130 inhabitants.
In the village is the wooden church of St. Peter and Paul from 1688 and the church of the same name from 1992. The wooden church was originally built in Pokutien and transported to Urman in 1777. The village also has a school from the early 20th century.
The village is located in the Podolian highlands at an altitude of 319 m on the bank of the Eastern Solota Lypa ( Східна Золота Липа ), a 33 km long left tributary of the Solota Lypa , which forms a large lake south of the village. Urman is located 16 km north of the Bereschany district center and about 60 km west of the Ternopil oblast center .
