geography

location

In the south-west of Bavaria, the Ursersberg is part of the Adelegg mountain landscape, which, as the wooded northern foothills of the Allgäu Alps, extends far into the northern foothills of the Alps . Within the Kürnach forest there, it rises about 1.4 km northwest of Eschach , a district of Buchenberg , to whose municipal area the mountain is one. Parts of the fauna-flora-habitat area Kürnacher Wald (FFH no. 8227-373; 27.5961  km² ) are located on the mountain .

Natural allocation

Within the foothills of the Alps , the Ursersberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Nagelfluhhöhen and Senken between Lake Constance and Isar (No. 02) and in the main unit Adelegg (023) to the subunit Hohe (Südliche) Adelegg (023.0).

Mountain height

According to a trigonometric point | trigonometric point, which can be seen in the map service of the State Institute for the Environment, Measurements and Nature Conservation Baden-Württemberg, the Ursersberg is 1129.3  m high. A 1125  m high point is marked in the BayernAtlas of the Bavarian State Government near the summit .

Watershed

The Ursersberg forms the highest point on the watershed between the Kürnach in the north, the Eschach in the south and the Kollerbach in the east: The water of the Goldach flowing north of the mountain, which is fed by the Kleine and Große Goldach , runs through the Kürnach into the Eschach, and that of a brook that rises on the southern slope of the mountain, also flows into the Eschach, the water of which then flows through the Aitrach , Iller and Danube towards the Black Sea . This is also where the water from the Iller tributary Kollerbach, which rises a little southeast of the mountain, also receives water from the nearby Eschacher Weiher .

Hiking and sports

The Ursersberg, to which there are no roads, can be reached from the surrounding valleys on several forest and hiking trails . One of them leads from the direction of the Buchenberg district of Eschach near the summit at about 1126  m altitude through the Große Schwedenschanze, to pass the Jägerhütte located next to a 1103  m high crossroads . The Schwärzenlifte ski area is located on the south-eastern flank of the mountain above the village of Eschach .
