The Kürnacher forest is one to about 1129 m above sea level. NHN high part of the Adelegg mountain landscape and is located within the West Allgäu in the Oberallgäu district ( Bavaria ) in southern Germany .

The predominantly heavily forested Kürnach Forest is located east of the actual Adelegg mountain range, southwest of Wiggensbach and northwest of Buchenberg . To the north of the Kürnach Forest, beyond the Kürnach and west of Wiggensbach in the Altusried district, the Hohentanner Forest joins, to the south the Buchenberg Forest seamlessly .

Waters
On the northwestern edge of the Kürnach Forest, the Kürnach runs along a section of the border to the Hohentanner Forest , which rises on the eastern edge of the Kürnach Forest and is an eastern tributary of the Eschach , a section of which forms the boundary to Adelegg . In addition, many small tributaries from Kürnach and Eschach arise in the Kürnach Forest, which is passed east of the Iller tributary Kollerbach . In the area of the Dürrer Bichl (also called Dürrer Bühl ) and Blender mountains, the Iller tributary Rohrach rises and the Kollerbach flows past to the east.
Protected area
Large parts of the Kürnach forest belong to the central area of the fauna-flora-habitat area Kürnacher Wald (FFH no. 8227-373).

The sights of the Kürnach Forest include, in addition to its beautiful forest landscape, the Schwedenschanzen , built as a road barrier , the Große Schwedenschanze on Ursersberg and the Kleine Schwedenschanze on Mount Änger.
