The Buchenberger Forest is up to 1121.1 m above sea level. NHN high part of the Adelegg mountain landscape and is located within the West Allgäu in the Oberallgäu district ( Bavaria ) in southern Germany .

The predominantly heavily forested Buchenberg Forest lies east of the actual Adelegg mountain range and west of Buchenberg . To the north of the Buchenberger Wald, the Kürnacher Wald joins seamlessly , to the southeast the Wirlinger Wald and to the south or beyond the Sonneneck ridge .

Waters
The Eschach rises in the Buchenberg Forest, on the southeastern edge of which is the Eschacher Weiher , from which an upper course section flows through the central part of the Buchenberger Forest and which then runs along its southwestern edge on the border to Baden-Württemberg and Adelegg to the west in predominantly northern directions runs. The Iller tributary Kollerbach rises about 1.5 km southeast of the Eschach origin . To the south the forest is bounded by the upper reaches of the Wengener Argen (tributary of the Lower Argen ). In addition, many small tributaries of the Eschach, such as the Kreuzbach, arise in or on the edge of the forest.
Protected area
Large parts of the Buchenberg Forest belong to the southern part of the fauna-flora-habitat area Kürnacher Wald (FFH no. 8227-373).
