geography

location

The Hohenkapf is located in the southern part of the Buchenberg Forest, the southeast part of the Adelegg mountain landscape , about 2.3 km (as the crow flies ) southwest of Eschach , a part of the municipality of Buchenberg . The border to the community of Weitnau runs over the western flank of the mountain .

Waters

The Steinebach rises to the west of the Hohenkapf and the Letzbach rises on its southern flank, the northern tributaries of the Wengener Argen (tributary of the Untere Argen ). Two streams flow from its northern flank, which are part of the tributaries of the Eschach , known in the upper reaches of the Nibel . The only larger still water on the Hohenkapf is the Eschacher Weiher on its eastern flank .

Hiking and tourism

The Hohenkapf is accessible from several hiking trails. While you can perceive impressive views from various points on these trails, for example to the Blender mountain , towards the Iller valley, to the Ammergauer and Allgäu Alps as well as to the Sonneneck and Hauchenberg ridges , there are no prospects at its heavily forested summit.

Far better known than the Hohenkapf, because of its observation tower, is the slightly lower Black Ridge in Adelegg, at 1118  m .
