Ursula Lytton

Ursula Lytton (born February 13, 1949 in Aachen ) is a German art and building historian , Germanist, curator and PR consultant.

Career

She studied art history with Hans Holländer , architectural theory with Manfred Speidel , Albrecht Mann in building history, Thomas Kramer at RWTH Aachen University , graduating with a Magister Artium in 1981. After a short teaching post in Aachen, she obtained the academic degree 1984 a research fellow and lecturer at Keiō University Tokyo. The main topics were sacred rites and customs of the Shugendo of the Dewa Mountains of Northern Japan, traditional Japanese architecture, especially in the field of martial arts, Budo . The focus was on the dojo architecture of archery, Kyūdō . Lytton Kyūdō himself practiced according to the rules of the Heki School, Insai-ha, under the teachers Genshiro Inagaki at Waseda University , Tokyo and under Toshio Mori at the University of Tsukuba , Saitama .

In 1985 Lytton was appointed to the Scientific Advisory Board of the OAG, East Asian Society, Tokyo. She lectured at numerous international conferences on the topics of East Asian art, culture and architecture as well as on traditional value systems and their significance in contemporary society. Her research was disseminated in print and TV media. Parallel to her academic activities, she worked as a culture and PR advisor in the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Yamagata Prefectural Government between 1987 and 1991 , supporting the presentation of Tōhoku's cultural treasures in Japan, the USA and Europe.

After her return from Japan in 1991, Lytton worked for a decade as Head of Public Relations for Mitsubishi Electric Europe BV, headquartered in London, UK. She accompanied u. a. The establishment and commissioning of a manufacturing facility for semiconductors in Alsdorf , North Rhine-Westphalia, was responsible for corporate communications and maintained the corporate identity of the European Mitsubishi Electric branches. Since 2000 she worked for C&P Asset Management in Luxembourg.

Since 2004 Lytton has been concentrating more and more on tasks in the arts and culture. Since then she is u. a. Founding member and board member of the German-Chinese Society Neuss eV She curates exhibitions for the society as well as for galleries as well as for contemporary German and Chinese artists. She is also the author of numerous lectures on art and traditional East Asian culture.
