Ursula “Uschi” Lichtenegger (born 1961 in Vienna ) is an Austrian family helper , district politician for the Vienna Green Party and, since November 2016, district head of the 2nd district of Vienna, Leopoldstadt .

Life

Lichtenegger completed an office apprenticeship after graduating from the commercial academy (HAK). From 1980 she was employed at the publishing house for social criticism. She later trained as a family helper and attended a course in new media . For several years she lived in the Waldviertel . Until 2010 Lichtenegger worked in the book and magazine production as well as in the secretariat of the Theodor Kramer Society . From 2012 to 2016 she was employed by the umbrella association for socio-economic institutions (DSE-Vienna).

She was politicized by the formation of the black-blue coalition in early 2000. Since then, Lichtenegger has been involved with the Greens and various grassroots projects in the district in which she lives. From 2003 to 2005 she was a spokeswoman for the AK culture and society of the Grätzel management Volkert quarter and Allied quarter . In the Volkertviertel she was also involved in founding the district newspaper "Grätzl-Blattl". She was also involved in the ARGE Randkunst and in the Mexikoplatz culture group . According to her own statements, the focus of her political work is citizen participation, feminist women's politics and integration politics. She campaigns against the building of the Augarten and wants to promote the culture and history of Leopoldstadt.

Lichtenegger is divorced, has three grown children and two granddaughters. In addition to looking after her grandchildren, she mentions cycling and tennis as leisure activities. She also has a dog.

District head of Leopoldstadt

Uschi Lichtenegger is only the fourth district head to be appointed by the Vienna Greens . Thomas Blimlinger has been the district chairman of Neubau , Vienna's 7th district, since 2001 . Heribert Rahdjian was district chairman of Josefstadt , Vienna's 8th district, from 2005 to 2010 . He was no longer nominated for the 2010 election and then founded his own district list, which was able to achieve five mandates. The position of district head in Josefstadt has since been held by an ÖVP politician. Since 2015 Silvia Nossek has been the first green district head in Vienna-Währing .

Until 2016, Leopoldstadt was a traditional SPÖ stronghold. All district heads since 1945 were provided by the Social Democrats. The regular district representative election in 2015 also resulted in a clear SP majority, the mandate distribution was: 24 SPÖ, 14 each for FPÖ and Die Grünen , 4 ÖVP , 3 NEOS and 1 Vienna different , an alliance of KPÖ and PolDi, pirates , real green and independents. The Greens were able to achieve second place - with only 21 votes ahead of the FPÖ - and thus the claim to the district chairman's deputy. The election was challenged to the FPÖ. In June 2016, the Constitutional Court ruled that inconsistencies in the postal voting results were due to a violation of the Vienna election regulations and could have influenced the outcome of the election. The redial took place on September 18, 2016. The election campaign developed into a duel for second place between the Greens and the FPÖ and ended with an enormous surprise, the relative majority of the Greens, certainly also due to the low turnout of only 35% (compared to 64.7% for the regular Election the year before). The mandate distribution was now: 22 for the Greens, 17 SPÖ, 14 FPÖ, 3 each for ÖVP and NEOS, 1 Vienna different.

The inauguration of the new district head took place on November 28, 2016 in the auditorium of the SFU Vienna.
