The Ussel is a river about 30 kilometers in length through the southern Franconian Jura , which flows into the Danube from the left south of Rennertshofen at Stepperger Castle .

course

The source of the Ussel, which is a second- order body of water , is located on the state road 2214, on the western edge of the Sändle forest, about two and a half kilometers west-northwest of the center of Monheim in the Donau-Ries district in Swabia in Bavaria . From here on it flows first in an arc to the west around the Flotzheim district and then in a continuously deeper valley, partly wooded on the slopes, quite steadily to the southeast. The towns of Itzing , Hochfeld , Daiting , Gansheim , Trugenhofen , Rennertshofen and finally Stepperg lie one after the other on the bank , whereupon shortly after the Stepperger Castle under the mausoleum on the Antoniberg it flows into the Danube from the left .
