The Usta ( Russian Уста , Mari Ышта ) is a left tributary of the Wetluga in the Kirov Oblast and the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast in northwestern Russia .

It rises southeast of Shakhunya on the border between Kirov Oblast and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. It flows only a few kilometers within the Kirov Oblast. The Usta flows mainly in a westerly direction through the Novgorod Oblast. It passes the small town of Uren and turns south in its lower reaches. After 253 km it meets the Wetluga, which also flows south. The Usta drains an area of ​​6030 km². The river is covered by a layer of ice between November and April. The snowmelt makes a significant contribution to the annual runoff. 47 km above the mouth, the mean discharge is 28 m³ / s.
