Ute Maiwald

Ute Maiwald (born May 14, 1961 in Messenkamp , Lower Saxony ) is a former German gymnast . She works as a sports scientist at the Hesse Olympic Training Center .

biography

Maiwald is the youngest daughter of a businessman and a housewife. She grew up with her two brothers in Messenkamp.

At the age of six she started to do gymnastics at MTV Messenkamp. She was very pleased with the balance beam and performed particularly well on the uneven bars . With her performance group she won a competition against VFL Hannover . Later she also trained in Hanover. She started individually for Messenkamp and in the team for Hanover. She was invited to attend a boarding school for young gymnasts in Frankfurt am Main , which she moved into when she was twelve.

Ute Maiwald had her first assignment for the national team in 1975 at the age of 14 in a junior international match in Norway . Ute Maiwald had several missions for the German national team. In 1977 she became German champion on uneven bars and in all-around competitions in Paderborn ; numerous runner-up titles followed. Her first World Championship participation was in Strasbourg in 1977 , the second World Championship she did gymnastics in Fort Worth , Texas. She became German university champion in 1981 and 1982 with the team and in the all-around as well as in the device finals uneven bars, balance beam and floor .

Maiwald is married and has two daughters.
