Uwe Biester (born September 3, 1948 in Nordleda ) is a German local politician and former member of the Lower Saxony state parliament . He was a member of the state parliament for the electoral periods from 1998 to 2013.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Otterndorf , Biester did his military service in Stade and Hamburg . He then studied law at the universities in Tübingen , Geneva and Münster . After completing his doctorate and the second state examination, he has worked as a lawyer since 1977 and as a notary since 1990 . In addition, Biester is represented on several supervisory boards (including gas and electricity works in Wilhelmshaven).

He is married and has two children. He is a member of the Corps Rhenania Tübingen .

politics

Biester has been a member of the CDU since 1980 . From 2000 to 2002 he was district chairman of the CDU Wilhelmshaven. From 1981 to 2006 he was a member of the City Council of Wilhelmshaven . From 1984 to 1998 he was an alderman and chairman of the CDU council group. In 1998, Biester entered the Lower Saxony state parliament via the CDU state list. In the state elections in 2003, he won the direct mandate in the constituency of Wilhelmshaven , which he was able to defend in the 2008 elections.

Biester was the political political spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group since 1998.

In November 2011 Biester announced that he no longer wanted to stand for election in the next state elections in 2013.
