Uwe Hartmann (officer)

Uwe Hartmann (* 1962 ) is a German officer ( Colonel i. G. ) and educator . From 2009 to 2013 he was head of the student area at the Helmut Schmidt University of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg.

Life

After joining the Bundeswehr, Hartmann studied pedagogy from 1983 to 1986 at the Helmut Schmidt University (diploma). In 1994 he started with the dissertation Education of Adults as a Problem of Educational Theory and Practice. A historical-systematic analysis of the educational field "Bundeswehr" with the aim of an educational explication of the concept of education with regard to adult educational action for Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1995 to 1997, Hartmann took part in the 38th General Staff Course (H) at the Command Academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg, after which he was used as a G4 op in the IV Corps in Geltow near Potsdam. In 2001 he completed a degree in "US National Security Affairs" a. a. with Donald Abenheim at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California. From 2005 to 2007 he was a consultant in the planning staff of the Federal Minister of Defense (PlStab). He was then transferred to NATO's Europa SHAPE headquarters in Mons, Belgium. From 2009 to 2013 he was head of the student area at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. He then graduated from the United States Army War College (USAWC) in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Since 2014 he has been head of the Troop Management / Land Forces Operations Department in the Army Command in Strausberg.

From 2002 to 2004 he was an assessor in the Clausewitz Society . In 2009 he founded u. a. with the educational scientist Claus von Rosen the yearbook Inner Leadership . In addition, he published several writings on Innereführung and the military theorist Carl von Clausewitz .

Hartmann is married and has one child; he lives in Potsdam. His wife is the owner of the Carola Hartmann Miles publishing house .
